You can experiment different durations. You have to let enough time so it can recover but not so much that it can get so much worse. In my experience anywhere from 3-10 days gives the best results.
Yes 66 days is too long in futures financial fees 
as per my calculations it will cost about 30$ on 1985$ investment. By adding addition 30-35$ once all SOs are hit one can mitigate this aspect. Bear in mind that the market was dead in those 66 days but the strategy survived it.
