I want to share with you guys this setup I came with …
I think DCA is one of the best trading strategies, specially for non-Technical analyst like me… but one of the biggest fears by DCAing for me are the red bags. … so in order to avoid it I set a SL of 10%.
Would you please give me your thoughts in regards of this following strat?
What do you guys think about using SL in a combo bot?
Thanks for sharing that strategy! My input: I find that backtests on futures are a lot less accurate than spot. That is because futures shortens the distance necessary to hit TP or SL, and there are more chances that it will happen within the same candle it opened. Since the movement inside the candle is assumed, we don’t know what would have happened in actual trading.
The backtest is a good first-pass filter. The strategy won’t work in the real world if the results are poor. But if the results are good, that doesn’t automatically means the strategy is a winner, there are still plenty of things that can go wrong in real trading (slippage, liquidity, exchange rules, etc.).
The best way to test strategies is Backtest → Paper trade → Small run → Full deployment.
You should now start with Paper Trade and don’t forget to update this post with the results

I deployed in paper already.
But in general terms, my logic is that by using SL, I am able to use less “safety orders” in my DCA so I can use like a 60% of my assets … heavier orders, but then in a losing entry I am losing just 10% of that 60% and not develop a red bag.
I need to keep polishing the strat for grow of the win rate
how is the strat going so far?

I turned it off, because of many bad operations … I am still playing around with the parameters to get a sweet spot of conditions to avoid bigger drawdowns. … later I hope I can update this post
