Things are warming up. Ben Cowen’s famous BTC Dominance 60% target was met last month and alt season index is getting close to 75%. Accordingly my DCA bots have been doing week in last few days.
But is it too early for alt coin season?
I am hopeful that altcoin season will start, but we are in a weird spot as previous cycles. Due to the institutional adoption of Bitcoin, alts can’t catch up and I would not use any pairing using BTC quote. Aside from a black swan event, there are no potential threats to crypto in the horizon, so I think the alt season will start at some point, specially after Trump takes office. So it may make sense to start now. I already started trading alts but I’m doing it conservatively.

Ben Cowen’s recommendation to keep looking at BTC pairs for double bottoms is interesting, and he also warns of the January post halving corrections early bull run.

I hope so, I want to see how Urma bots react to massive drops. If BTC corrects like that, I’m hoping alts crash to their BTC pair bottoms. That would be very nice

just being curious, are you running/planning to run bots on BTC pairs or are you just observing them?
TBH, I’ve stopped trading this since the last cycles because of the better stable-coins availability and I also got burned too often.
No. And I don’t think I’ve ever run any deals on anything except USDT pairs. I just monitor BTC pairs for signals of an alt season. BTC dominance is dropping at moment which is why alts are heating up. I’m just following Ben Cowen’s cautious model.
As @aressanch has said, while BTC is still king, it’s not really alt season. We need to see bottoming of the BTC pairs across the board as retail comes into the market and goes crazy on alts, while BTC takes a back seat (and still climbs of course). Many may have already bottomed, many have yet to do so.
Every US election since 2004 has initiated a 120-day bull run (4/3-2025). Just saying.
