Currently only deals section have average prices for each deals.
Can you please show average price of the DCA bot itself too, on a column of the Bot section or inside DCA bot stats.
Thanks a lot!
How should a bot display an average price? Only deals have prices.
I usually use grid bots that calculate an average price. As we all know, during bear markets, prices tend to consolidate near the bottom, allowing grid bots to lower the average price. At that point, I typically stop the grid bot and HODL to sell during a bull market for 2x-3x profits.
When closing the grid bot, I often open a new one. Currently, I’m using Bitsgap because Gainium doesn’t have a trailing-up feature.
However, Gainium offers DCA bots with multiple deals and a dynamic price filter, which can be an alternative to grid bots. The only issue is that the main DCA bot doesn’t display the average price. I believe it would be helpful if it included an average price feature.
That way, when we’re near the market bottom and the bot is able to lower the average price, I can simply stop the DCA bot and HODL the coins while starting a new spot DCA bot.
If the grid bot has a break-even price (average price), I think DCA bots can have it too. There should be a way to calculate the average price of buys and sells based on every order executed by the DCA bot.
A Grid bot runs on a single asset. Each Grid bot works like a single deal with multiple orders. A DCA bot may have the dynamic price filter but every deal currently only keeps track of his own orders. There isn’t something like a bot-wide meta deal that executes DCA deals as if they were its own orders. (This would possibly require a new kind of bot. I wrote another topic about a generalised DCA bot, that closes deals in kind of a defined loss instead of DCAing them, but uses follow-up deals to work like DCA steps.)
Did you check the Combo bot? It builds a kind of dynamic grid. The DCA levels allow you to expand the grid in one direction, while reaching the top of the base grid or reaching the deals take profit closes the deal with a positive result. And it can start another Combo deal right away.
For normal DCA bots, your points are valid, but this is not a normal DCA bot. This is a DCA bot with multiple deals+dynamic price filter (which means it essentially works like grid bots, where a deal is a grid spacing, Deals purchase assets all the way down, and as the price retraces, close the deals for profits.),
I don’t like combo bots because, based on backtests, combo bots don’t utilize our funds effectively.
On the bot page you have a value column which is the value of all the deals. I don’t really understand why you want the average price when this number is only useful to calculate if you e in profit or loss. Besides a multicoin bot have different coins and won’t be able to calculate.
You could simulate a geometric Grid bot by using a Combo bot with a minimal size base grid and DCA levels without DCA grids where each DCA level works like a grid line. With an appropriate configuration you can even space those levels geometrically. Usual Combo grids only support arithmetic spacing currently. I already added a feature request how those could offer geometric spacing as well.
I still think it’s really valuable to have a break-even or average price. For example, if we run a DCA bot for BTC with multiple deals, it will generate profits all the way down. This means the DCA bot can significantly reduce the average price.
For instance, if BTC drops to $50K and the average price shows $60K, we can stop the bot, hold the BTC, and sell it at $100K. after stop teh bot in $50K We can start a new DCA bot with multiple deals. I’m using this method with grid bots, but the cost is a bit high. DCA can be done with less funding. I’m not sure how complex it would be to achieve this, as I have no idea about the logic or technical aspects involved in calculating the average price.
I think I already asked on the Telegram bot to share some profitable combo bot URLs because I’ve run around 50 backtests, changing everything, but with no luck.
Can you share one combo bot that can cover the SPOT ADA coin range of 0.22 to 1.30 with 4 years of backtests and a daily profit average of 0.20%+ ?
The start condition should ASAP and no SL.
