V2 Base order amount in base currency

I am trying to set the base order amount in terms of the number of tokens (in this case, AI tokens), but when I select the base currency, the amount remains at 10 (I previously had it set to 10 dollars); furthermore, when I make adjustments, they aren’t actually reflected in the base currency within the order. I assume it isn’t calculating it correctly.

Bug details:

Original notional value

When switching to the base currency amount, the number (10) remains the same, and the base order changes to 100 tokens.

But if I try to change the token amount for the base order, nothing happens… it seems to remain at the same 100 tokens from the original $10 order.

Thanks for the detailed write-up and screenshots, John — that’s very helpful. You’re right that this doesn’t look correct: when you switch the base-order amount to the base currency (tokens), the value should recalculate from your $10 notional, and you should then be able to edit the token amount freely. From what you’ve described, the field isn’t recalculating and edits to the token amount aren’t taking effect — we’re treating that as a bug and looking into it.

To reproduce your exact scenario, could you confirm: which exchange this bot is on, and whether it’s a long or short bot on spot or futures? Base-currency denomination behaves a bit differently across those, and I want to make sure we’re testing the same setup you’re seeing.

OKX Exchange
Perpetual futures present the same drawback in both directions (long and short).

Thanks, John — that’s exactly what I needed. I’ve reproduced it: on a perpetual-futures bot, when you switch the base order amount to the base currency (tokens), the amount isn’t being converted from your original dollar value — it just keeps the same raw number and re-labels it, which is why $10 showed up as “100 tokens.” And because of that same issue, edits to the token amount don’t stick and snap back.

This is a genuine bug on our side, not a setting on your end. I’ve logged it for the team to fix so that switching the denomination properly recalculates the amount and lets you edit it in tokens. In the meantime, the reliable workaround is to leave the base order amount denominated in the quote currency (dollars) when configuring the bot. I’ll follow up on this thread once the fix is out.

Good news, John — we found and fixed the cause. When you switched the base order amount to the base currency (tokens), the app was keeping the same number and just relabeling it instead of recalculating from your dollar amount — that’s why your $10 order showed up as ~100 tokens. It now properly converts the amount when you change the denomination, so the token figure reflects your intended order size and you can edit it freely.

It’ll go live with our next dashboard update — I’ll follow up here once it’s out. Thanks again for the clear report and screenshots.
