You can't trade this pair or borrow this crypto due to local compliance restrictions

New here, based in Germany and trying to set up my first $ grid bot using OKX where I can no longer purchase USDT. But when I try setting up my bot (USDC paired with HBAR) I get the warning “You can’t trade this pair or borrow this crypto due to local compliance restrictions.”

Are others out there encountering this problem?
Is this a problem with USDC or HBAR or the exchange?
Is there a way to work around this from EEA so I can get my grid bot to actually trade? Thanks for any insights you all maight have!

Hey Amy,

This restriction comes directly from the exchange, meaning they restrict the symbols you can use based on which country you have KYCd. So while we display all possible pairs listed on OKX, you may not be able to use some of them. Only KYCing in a non restrictive country would work.

Hey Amy,
I’m from Germany too, at Bitget (with KYC) you can trade HBAR/USDT (and other coins/USDT) without problems.

cool thanks - I will try that. A friend of mine is also with Bitget and hasn’t had the problems I’m encountering, The challenge I have faced with various exchanges is that I am a US citizen abroad and have had trouble kyc-ing with several platforms.Coinbase and OKX have worked so I was hoping to use OKX as a test with one $gridbot before committing to the subscription fees and synching Coinbase. Haven’t tried Bitget tho - so will give it a shot.

unfortunately, US passport holders aren’t allowed to trade with Bitget.

Oh sad! I’m sorry to hear this for you.
